ABOUT

Aleksandar Djordjevic (aka Aleks) is a VFX Supervisor, Flame Artist & Creative Director based in New York, USA & Amsterdam, Netherlands. A veteran of the industry with roles spanning from his beginnings as an advertising Art Director, followed by moving into post-production and becoming one of the premium Flame & Nuke Senior Artists for post-production, working as a feature film and commercials visual effects supervisor.  With a versatility and a knack for managing both small and large VFX teams, he has excelled in both commercial and feature film VFX work during his many years in the industry.

His feature VFX work (link to Aleksandar’s IMDb page) and supervision resume has dozens of Hollywood blockbusters, such as The Proposal, Men In Black 3, G.I. Joe:Retaliation, Tower Heist and others. He was fortunate to have been working and gaining visual effects chops around many legends behind the camera, such as Rob Legato, Mark O. Forker, Mark Russel, Mike Fink, Adam Howard, and learn from the best there are, often on sets and in communication with creative giants like Spike Jonze, Charlie Kaufman, and many others.

Eventually the positive mix of great creative, turnover times, aptitude and post-production quality of advertising work eventually led to commercials taking the front and center of his career. Today Aleks is fully committed to post-production for advertising and broadcast industries, with an occasional feature gig in-between ads.

In many years in commercials he has lead artist and penned VFX supervision credits on hundreds of works for clients such as BBDO, McCann, Ogilvy, Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett and many more. He had the pleasure to work on projects for some of the true industry’s greats such as Spike Jonze, Dante Ariola, Adam Berg, Noam Murro, and Tom Kuntz, and for a variety of brands such as Mercedes, DirectTV, General Electric, Verizon, NFL, Absolut Vodka, AT&T, Sprint, Edible Arrangements, Carnival, Jose Cuervo, to name a few.

Aleks was very fortunate to have worked at many top tier facilities around the world in a variety of roles – as a lead Flame and compositing artist, project lead and department head. After a long and varied freelance career, and two long staff stints at Method Studios New York as the Compositing Supervisor of their New York office, and at Moving Picture Company New York (subsidiary of Technicolor), as the Head of 2D department, Aleksandar has joined Smoke & Mirrors as Head of 2D in April 2017.
